Meditation: Let Go with the Ocean
/Words and mediation by Nid Ra
Natural sounds reflect rhythms in the body that can help to release what no longer serves us. Meditation supports the ability to find some calm and stability in a world that we cannot control.
Why this meditation practice?
Often we do not realise that in our busy lives we are not completely letting go of things. We may not have taken the time needed to reflect and process experience in our lives. So, we hold onto it perhaps even ruminating on the past or worrying that it may reappear in the future.
Unprocessed thoughts and emotions can contribute to mental health issues.; through not allowing the full experience to flow through our physical experience, we hold and store it in pockets of tension throughout the body.
This holding on to past experiences can lead to pain or illness.
With regular practice of consciously letting go, it is possible to release these old feelings and energy to make space for new opportunities and solutions in our lives.
This practice uses the sounds of the waves and wind to welcome the washing away of the old, and make space for the new.
Benefits of this meditation:
Beyond the ‘usual’ benefits of meditation, as discussed here.
Enjoy the natural rhythms of the waves, wind and bird song.
