Editor's Letter: February
/Well done, you got through January!
I hope you're finding the start to this new year and new decade inspiring and exciting. Or...perhaps you're not?
It's all too easy to fall into the pattern of the days; forgetting to stop and look around and marvel at how absolutely incredible this life is when, in fact, it's quite the miracle that we are here at all.
Dr Ali Binazir, author and happiness engineer, estimates that the chances of us being born at all are basically zero.
He writes:
"Imagine there was one life preserver thrown somewhere in some ocean and there is exactly one turtle in all of these oceans, swimming underwater somewhere. The probability that you came about and exist today is the same as that turtle sticking its head out of the water — in the middle of that life preserver. On one try."
I don't know about you, but ruminating on that gives me a true jolt of realisation; that this life is to be lived, to be enjoyed, to be cherished.
Do with that what you will, but do something.
Til next time.
Blue Skies,
Jasmine
